도니제티의 <샤무니의 린다> 중에서 린다의 아리아
'당신은 내 마음의 빛'
Gaetano Donizetti (1797 - 1848) / 'O luce, di quest'anima'
from Linda di Chamounix
Ah! tardai troppo, e al nostro
favorito convegno
io non trovai il mio diletto Carlo;
e chi sa mai
quanto egli avr? sofferto!
Ma non al par di me!
Pegno d'amore
questi fior mi lasci?!
Ttenero core!
E per quel core io l'amo,
unico di lui bene.
Poveri entrambi siamo,
viviam d'amor, di speme;
pittore ignoto ancora
egli s'innalzer? coi suo i talenti!
Sar? mio sposo allora.
Oh noi contenti!
O luce di quest'anima,
delizia, amore e vita,
la nostra sorte unita,
in terra, in ciel sar?.
Deh, vieni a me, riposati
su questo cor che t'ama,
che te sospira e brama,
che per te sol vivr?.
Ah! Too long I have waited;
And yet I have not found
at our favorite place my dear Carlo.
And who can tell
What he has suffered!
But not as much as I have!
As a symbol of his love
He left me these posies!
What a tender heart!
And for that heart
I do adore him
It is the greatest treasure he has!
We are both but poor,
Living only on thoughts of love
If he be an unknown painter,
He will shine with his genius!
And I will be his wife.
Oh, what contentment!
Oh, you are the radiance of my soul,
Delightful life and love;
on earth and in heaven,
We will be united.
Come, my dear
And find calm in my yearning heart
That sighs for your love,
Of which mine is for you alone.
Kathleen Battle - Donizetti - Linda - O luce di quest'anima
This clip is from Metropolitan gala concert.
I don't know exactly when this concert was held
and whether it was released to DVD Title or not.
I saw it through LD about 5 years ago.
This gala concert was of Die Fledermaus, New
Year's Eve at Metropolitan Opera, conducted
by James Levine. At this LD (or DVD?)you can
also meet other opera stars like June Anderson,
Thomas Hampson,Mirella Freni, Placido Domingo,
Luciano Pavarotti, Frederica von Stade, and soon.
Joan Sutherland singing Donizetti's "O luce di quest'anima"
This is my second upload. Of course, every opera lover knows Linda's joyful
"O luce di quest'anima" from Donizetti's "Linda di Chamounix", and it seems
sopranos adore it too: though the opera is rarely perforemed and there are
only two recordings of this score, there are numerous versions of this aria.
I heard many versions, but for me, Joan Sutherland's version is one of the
best. Not only does this recording capture Sutherland's voice right after the
fabled 1959 Lucia, so the singing is just breathtaking; Joan Sutherland's
diction is exemplerary here, as is her interpretation. Hope you enjoy this recording.
