Someone should call his parents or a sister or a brother And they’ll come and take him back home on a bus But he’ll always be a problem to his poor and puzzled mother And he’ll always be another one of us He said he wanted heaven but prayin’ was too slow So he bought a one-way ticket on an airline made of snow Did you say you saw your good friend flyin’ low You say it was this mornin’ when you last saw your good friend Lyin’ on the sidewalk with the misery on his brain Stoned on some new potion he found upon the wall Of some unholy bathroom in some ungodly hall Did you say you saw your good friend flyin’ low Dyin’ slow Blinded by snow             Hoyt Wayne Axton (1938-1999)   미국 오클라호머출신 컨트리싱어송라이터인 Hoyt Axton은 그의 어머니 'Mae Boren Axton'은 Elvis Presley의 'Heartbreak Hotel'의 작곡자이며 그는 1958년 'Follow the Drinking Gourd'로 내쉬빌에서 첫앨범을 발표한다.   1963년 Kingston Trio의 히트곡 'Greenback Dollar'를 작곡했으며 1964년 John Kay의  'The Pusher', Three Dog Night 의 히트곡인 'Joy to the World','Never Been To Spain'그리고 Ringo Starr 히트곡 'No No Song'의 작곡자로도 잘 알려져 있다.    그외 Waylon Jennings,Tanya Tucker, John Denver,Glenn Yarborough,Lynn Anderson,Glenn Campbell,Commander Cody 등 여러가수에게 곡을 주었다.   1960년대의' The Pusher'(Easy Rider 의 사운드 트렉으로 사용됨)와 'Snowblind Friend' 같은 막강한 곡들을 작곡함으로써 작곡가로서의 훌륭한 평판으로 세상에 알려지기 시작했다. 1970년에 공개됐던 사이키델릭,하드록 그룹 Steppenwolf 는  Hoyt Axton와 베이시스트 George Biondo와 함께 컨트리풍의 "Snow Blind Friend"와 하드록 넘버 "Forty Days And Forty Nights," "Ears chplitten louden boomer"등을 남겼다.   또한 Three Dog Night 의 순회공연에서 그는 미완성의 곡들을 연주했으며 'Joy to theWorld'가 국제적으로 1위에 등극하는 것까지도 보았다. 그가 표현했듯이 'Joy to theWorld'는 굉장히 Hoyt 풍의 곡으로 같은 앨범내에서 유력한 곡이라고..   그는 Vee Jay, Exodus and Columbia 등의 수많은 레이블을 통해서 앨범을 녹음하였다. 1999년 61세때 심장마비로 몬타나에서 운명한다. 2007년 오클라호머 머스코키의  'Oklahoma Country Music Hall of Fame'에 입적했다.
