Strike another match, go start anew And it's all over now, Baby Blue.     로큰롤 명예의 전당 헌액(1994) 1995년 팀의 음악적 뿌리인 싱어송라이터이자 기타리스트 Jerry Garcia가 죽기 전까지 샌프란시스코의 사이키델릭 시대를 구가하며 30년 이상 활발한 순회공연, 연주, 레코딩 작업을 해온 Acid Band Grateful Dead     음악활동을 통해 평화와 사랑, 사고의 전환 등의 메시지를 전달하며 가장 오래도록 사랑받은 전설과도 같은 그룹이다. 65년 결성된 이들은 우연히 사전에서 찾은 단어로 Grateful Dead라는 밴드 이름을 정하고, 샌프란시스코 일대에서 클럽 공연과 무료 공연 등으로 라이브 밴드로서의 입지를 굳혀간다.   95년 7월 시카고 솔져 필드에서의 공연을 끝으로 한달 뒤 그룹의 음악적 원동력이 되었던 Jerry Garcia가 사망함으로써 해체하게 되었다.   비록 이제 더 이상 밴드로 존재하지 않는 Grateful Dead지만, 상업적인 성공에 관계없이 자신들의 주관을 고집한 최고의 라이브 밴드로 남아있는 이들의 음악은 아직도 시공을 초월해 여러 뮤지션들에 의해 연주되고 있을 뿐만 아니라, Deadheads로 알려진 열성적인 팬들에 의해 전세계적으로 널리 홍보, 판매되고 있다.
